| | | The Northville Downtown Development Authority invites you to join us at the "Movies at the Marquis" Classic Movie Series. The 2012 series will begin on January 21 and run through February 25, 2012. Movies will be shown at the historic Marquis Theatre located at 135 East Main. Each movie begins at 7:30p.m., with doors opening at 6:45p.m.

Each of the individual movies will be sponsored by the Downtown Northville merchant listed below. Tickets are $3 in advance at the ticket sponsor location, or $5 at the Marquis the night of the show. We hope that you take time to browse through each of the shops or enjoy a meal at one of the restaurants at the time of your ticket purchase and will visit them again on your next trip to Downtown Northville to watch your favorite classic. | |
| | January 21 - True Grit (1969) | | |
~ The murder of her father sends a teenage tomboy, Mattie Ross, on a mission of "justice", which involves avenging her father's death. She recruits a tough old marshal, "Rooster" Cogburn, because he has "grit", and a reputation of getting the job done. The two are joined by a Texas Ranger, La Boeuf, who is looking for the same man for a separate murder in Texas. Their odyssey takes them from Fort Smith, Arkansas, deep into the Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) to find their man. Starring John Wayne, Kim Darby and Glen Campbell.

~ As a child, Princess Dala is given, by her father, the largest diamond in the world, in which if you stare into it can be seen a "Pink Panther" hence the name. Bumbling and conceited French police inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) tries to catch The Phantom, a daring jewel thief whose identity and features are unknown - and is acting right under his nose. Directed by Blake Edwards, also starring David Niven, and Robert Wagner.

February 11 - Anatomy of a Murder (1959)
~ Frederick Manion, a lieutenant in the army, is arrested for the murder of a bartender, Barney Quill. He claims, in his defense, that the victim had raped and beaten up his wife Laura. Although Laura supports her husband's story, the police surgeon can find no evidence that she has been raped. Manion is defended by Paul Biegler, a rather humble small-town lawyer. During the course of interviews, Biegler discovers that Manion is violently possessive and jealous, and also that his wife has a reputation for giving her favors to other men. Starring James Stewart, Ben Gazzara and Lee Remick.

~ After a long prison sentence Smiler Grogan is heading at high speed to a California park where he hid $350,000 from a job 15 years previously. He accidentally careens over a cliff in view of four cars whose occupants go down to help. The dying Grogan gives details of where the money is buried and when the witnesses fail to agree on sharing the cash, a crazy chase develops across the state. ~ Conrad Birdie is the biggest rock & roll star of the 60's ever to be drafted. Aspiring chemist and song writer Albert is convinced he can make his fortune and marry his girlfriend Rosie if he gets Conrad on the Ed Sullivan show to kiss a high school girl goodbye. Albert's mother will do anything to break him up with Rosie. Kim and Hugo, the high school steadies, live in Sweet Apple, Ohio where most of the action takes place.
