If you're adept with a broom and a dustpan and like talking to people, you could be a Northville Ambassador. Under the direction of Jay Wendt and the staff of the Downtown Development Authority the City is looking for retirees or others who would like to volunteer for the new program.
Phil Martinez, owner of the Northville Sports Den located in Northville Square, has agreed to provide t-shirts for the crew.
The all-volunteer team will do more than keep the streets clean. They'll also greet people on the street, hand out maps, and provide direction to shops and restaurants. The idea is for them to promote the downtown areas as well as keeping it looking clean.
Our goal is to have 20-25 people and have ambassadors on the streets 5 - 6 days a week with a 4 - 6 hour per month commitment from each individual. If you would like to be a part of this new program, please call Jay Wendt at 248-349-3573 or the DDA 248-349-0345. |
