Like a kid in a candy store . . . Remember how you felt going to the candy store with mom and dad? That feeling comes back the minute you walk into Chocolates by Reneé.

Stephanie, Carmella and Margaret work together as a team to assure that all your chocolate needs are met. Carmella “Nan” enjoys the art of chocolate making for that “special day”, no matter what the occasion. Valentine’s Day is, of course, the “special day” that lovers everywhere are looking forward to. Reneé’s starts with only the finest pure, delectable, smooth and rich, creamy chocolates and molds them into solid chocolate heart boxes. Weighing more than a full pound, these yummy boxes can be filled with your choice of even more chocolate for an extraordinary Valentine for the real chocolate lover. Coconut Clusters, Pecan Turtles, Almond Bark, and Michigan dried cherries bathed in luscious chocolate are among the favorites made at Reneé’s on a daily basis. Their specialty is the Mammoth. A quarter pound of pecans, cashews or macadamia nuts, and sweet cream caramel drenched in a blend of pure milk or dark chocolate. Mmmmm! Your favorites are also available packaged in the traditional box or red heart boxes from one-half to 5 pound sizes.

In the late 1800’s creating fancy metal chocolate molds was at its height. More than 100 years later some of those same molds are still being used to create spectacular chocolate treats. Over the years more than 3000 different chocolate molds have been used by Northville’s chocolatiers at Chocolates by Reneé. Easter is, of course, a holiday big on chocolate bunnies, which take their shape from molds almost as old as the City itself. Short bunnies, tall bunnies, dancing bunnies, bunnies with baskets of Easter eggs; any kind of bunny you can think of will make its way to Reneé’s candy counter. Aside from Christmas, Easter, & Valentine’s Day, which are the top 3 chocolate holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, Sweetest Day, and “just because” are all occasions to celebrate with chocolate.

Chocolate molds today are made of plastic and can be designed and made for any use. Image your company logo in chocolate! Chocolate bars and suckers bearing your company logo can be wrapped or boxed as favors for grand openings, new clients, or special events. Think ahead to spring and include chocolate golf balls at your company’s next golf outing. Chocolates by Reneé has hundreds of molds for all types of events including the bridal couple, wedding and baby showers, celebration cigars, Christenings, First Communion, Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, sporting events, and all holidays. Tell them what you need and they will design a mold or favor that is perfect for your business or event. Think beyond the traditional events . . . include personalized favor boxes at your next family reunion or birthday party.

Congratulations on 10 years of service!

After earning a Marketing Degree from the
University of Michigan in 1993,
Stephanie Acho purchased
Chocolates by Reneé on February 9, 1996.

Chocolates by Reneé is not just chocolates! Baby boomers will remember the big candy counters full of penny candy. Although it’s no longer a penny, you can still find some of your favorites, old or new, at Reneé’s. Jelly Bellys in all your favorite flavors are available bulk, ready to be bagged. Include all your favorites in a special gift box tied festively with cellophane and ribbons. Choose one of their containers or bring your own. Need a new place for your child’s birthday party, scouting event, or even a special event? Chocolates by Reneé will host that party where kids can dip and decorate pretzel sticks and Oreos in chocolate or hand pour chocolate into molds. “Tea Time Treasures” will soon be the rage at Chocolates by Reneé where girls of all ages can dress up in costume (photos included) to sip on pink lemonade and eat chocolate-dipped cookies freshly baked at Reneé’s. Reneé’s will soon expand the chocolate dipping to include your favorite cookie varieties . . . Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter and Sugar Cookies all freshly baked in their new cookie ovens.

The quaint little candy store that now makes its home at 118 E. Main Street actually got its start around the corner at 124 N. Center, where Northville Candle & Gifts is currently located. Over the years Northville’s chocolate shops have evolved, first as Sweets & Treats, then Grandma Betty’s, and finally Chocolates by Reneé emerged in 1991. After 5 years of chocolate making, Reneé Hunt turned the key over to Stephanie Acho. Needing more room to expand the business Chocolates by Reneé moved to its current larger location in May of 1997. Stephanie is indebted to her talented staff and chocolate lovers everywhere. Stephanie’s Aunt Carmella, fondly known as Nan, can be seen making chocolates in the shop window. Margaret, who was born and raised in Northville and a graduate of Northville High School is a Managing Partner, and has been working side by side with Stephanie and Carmella for about 8 years handling day-to-day sales, packaging, wrapping and coordinating chocolate parties. Stephanie is not always behind the counter, but she is always behind the scene involved in the corporate handlings making sure your business orders are handled professionally and always on time.

Watch for all the new events coming to Chocolates by Reneé . . . “Tea Time Treasures,” freshly-baked cookies, and the start of a whole new way to order your chocolates. A website for Chocolates by Reneé is in the making.

Every day is a chocolate day!
