Born with a gift for painting and a love
for the arts, Caroline Dunphy has been expressing herself with a
paintbrush since she was just 3 years old. Working from her vintage
Northville home and her downtown studio, Painter’s Place, Caroline
expresses her creativity in watercolors, oils and pen & ink.
“Travel
in Time” is one Caroline’s most recent works capturing
Northville’s history throughout the past 50 years. This piece of art was
created in commemoration of the transition from Northville Village to
the City of Northville and is on display and available at Painter’s
Place. Numerous other sites throughout Northville have also been
captured in watercolor . . Mill Race Village buildings, the old Ford
Plant, Flower Days and Northville’s Main Street and landmark clock.
Northville prints may be purchased with or without frames or as note
cards.
One of Caroline’s fortes is her portraits.
Preserve a special time in your life with individual or family
portraits. Portraits may either be done from a photograph or studio
sitting. Capture your current home or take a walk down memory lane
beginning with your first starter home and travel through time with each
home that your family has gathered memories in. All homes are drawn on
one street and may be depicted in pen & ink or watercolors, personalize
by setting each home in your favorite season or adding the family pet.
Caroline’s love of flowers and painting have
taken her to some of the most beautiful gardens in the world including
Caroline’s favorite . . . Monet’s gardens in Giverny, France. Many days
were spent painting in the gardens of Monet, Renoir and Cezanne each
being reflected in many of her watercolors exhibited at Painter’s Place.
Cityscapes and countryside scenes of France, Austria, Italy, England,
Ireland and Germany are also included on the gallery walls. Caroline’s
impressionistic works are on display in hundreds of private collections
in America, Europe and Asia. She has been commissioned to develop
paintings for homes and businesses in subject matter and colors
complementing the interests and environment of her clientele. Commission
your own piece for a special retiree, a milestone birthday or
anniversary or simply your favorite garden.
“I am following Nature
without being able to grasp her,
I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers.”
Claude Monet
Caroline’s Northville roots began in the
early 1970’s as part of an art group housed over the Marquis Theatre.
After moving her studio several times, 140 N. Center Street became the
final home for Painter’s Place. Over the years Caroline has both studied
and taught art, lectured on Monet’s gardens and has inspired many
through her paintings. Visit Caroline in her studio Tuesday through
Thursday noon to 4:00pm or call for an appointment at your convenience.
