Logo - Swearingen PortraitsSimply put... Nancy & John Swearingen create legacies! Families, children, grandparents with grandchildren, high school seniors, and business portraits are commissioned as photographs, charcoal drawings or paintings. Photographic portraits are primarily of families and individuals created at locations other than their Main Street studio, usually in your home or at a favorite destination. Paintings and charcoal portraits are created from life with the subject sitting for the creation of the portrait.

John and Nancy have an eye on Northville in their beautiful third floor studio overlooking Main Street. Besides being one of the best views of downtown Northville, they have created a wonderful “North Light” studio. Nancy’s photographic portraits, when created in the studio, require no artificial lights, no flashes, no strobes, just natures own light. However, the studio is more than a photographic portrait studio; Nancy also creates fine art paintings and drawings. John creates interesting contemporary creations of his own. It is also John’s attention to detail which takes each portrait from digital image to a finely processed and framed print.

Family portraits capture the love you have for your family and will bring endless smiles for years to come. Providing the finest quality in portraits is achieved through Nancy and John’s multi-step process.

 In studio consultation
You will begin with a complementary casual consultation with Nancy and John. Sip a cup of tea or coffee as you get to know one another and become friends.

 In-home visit
The in-home visit is so important. This helps Nancy become familiar with your personality and everyday lifestyle. Where will your portrait be displayed? Is your home casual or more formal? Nancy may suggest clothing options to reflect your environment.

 Portrait session
Your portrait session will be memorable! Select a location where you and your family have fond memories. It may be your home or cottage, along a favorite stretch of beach or at a park that you visit frequently. While Nancy is focusing on the work at hand, John will be capturing those precious candid images

Babies and children . . . favorite subjects! Images of your infants are captured at three, six, nine and twelve months create a collage to frame. Nancy & John love children of all ages in the studio as they are always lively and beautiful.

Senior Portraits . . . Nancy and John do not believe that all senior portraits have to be the same. Elegant, unique, and original images of your high school senior are created during a fun and relaxed experience. Senior portraits are a perfect opportunity to include the entire family commemorating this milestone event.

 Viewing
Once your portraits have been created each image is carefully digitally enhanced to remove blemishes and minor imperfections. You are again invited to the studio to view the images and select your favorite. Selections are chosen for both expression and composition.

Delivery – Six to Eight Weeks
At last your portraits are complete. Whether you have chosen a single portrait or a collection of your family your portraits are complete and ready to take home.

 Frame Selection
Your signature portrait will need a frame! Let Nancy & John suggest one to complement your portraits. Don’t leave the studio with an unfinished piece of work. When you arrive home your artwork should be ready to hang on the wall.

Nancy established the Swearingen Photography portrait studio in Dearborn in 1992 as an outgrowth of her lifelong pursuit of portraiture as a painter, an aspect that she still continues today. Nancy was born and raised with fine arts and music. She attended high school at Interlochen Arts Academy and went on to receive her painting degree from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

John has always had a respect for the fine arts and is a skilled Certified Professional photographer. His candid and unique style blends with Nancy's artistic and classical eye to create exquisite portraits. Together they have won numerous awards, and their clients can be found throughout the United States. John and Nancy pride themselves on providing very personal service and giving their clients a truly relaxed artistic experience.

Whatever the occasion, preserve your memories with a portrait by Nancy and John Swearingen. The artistry at Swearingen’s Fine Portraits is unimaginable and breathtaking.
